My research focuses on applied microeconomics in general and, more specifically, on production economics, productivity and efficiency analysis. For my (second) doctoral dissertation, I extended a conventional production model to evaluate the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and used non-parametric methods to study technical efficiency in CSR production and quantify how much CSR activities contribute to creating value for the firm overall and at the margin. An article with part of this work is forthcoming in the European Journal of Operational Research. My other (first) doctoral dissertation was about studying productivity and mark-ups and their evolution following a trade liberalization in Mexico (karma...!). This work was recently recognized with the honorific mention in the Premio Citibanamex Economía.
Right now I'm working on finding the optimal convex combination for my research agenda to be able to include topics that are close to my heart (sustainability) as well as close to my work at the Bank and relevant for my new home, Mexico (income dynamics and inequality, labor, trade, development). It is as complicated as it sounds, but also very interesting and exciting!
